Sand Castle

Sand Castle

You have it all, or so it seems-

the power to rule,

and the wealth of your dreams.

But looks are deceiving, and something’s amiss: you still can’t afford your happiness.

The price of contentment is always too high

as long as you think it is something you buy  now all of your joy is found in your gold,

but the day will come when that will get old.

You might own the sea,

but you can’t control the waves

who are you gonna be

when your sand castle caves?

You’re living in a castle of sand

the shells and the starfish heed your command

it’s a nice illusion, but it’s not gonna last

your kingdom will crash down

in the stormy blast

Your fate was sealed when you chose your land just for the view, you went with the sand

You didn’t think the rock looked as nice

but when the winds come, you will think twice. You live like a king on a sunny day,

but all of your wealth will soon wash away

Your struggle for fortune will all be in vain

as soon as you hear the thunder and rain

You might own the sea,

but you can’t control the waves

who are you gonna be

when your sand castle caves?

You’re living in a castle of sand

the shells and the starfish heed your command

it’s a nice illusion, but it’s not gonna last

your kingdom will crash down

in the stormy blast

The storm is coming, you haven’t got long,

so listen closely to the words of this song:

abandon your shifting palace of sand

and build a home on higher land.

You’ll be surprised at what you find-

a lasting peace of a different kind,

a joy that doesn’t carry a cost

you will gain much more than you lost.

Abandon your shifting palace of sand

and build a home on higher land.
